PARASITES! Find Out If You Have Them
Parasites are insidious because of the common misconception among medical
people and the general public that parasites are generally a Third World problem
where malnutrition and poor hygienic practices exist. Nothing could be farther
from the truth. Tests often do not show the presence of parasites because the
testing procedures are by and large outdated and inadequate.
“I strongly believe that every patient with disorders of immune function,
including multiple allergies (especially food allergy), and patients with
unexplained fatigue or with chronic bowel symptoms should be evaluated for the
presence of intestinal parasites.” – Leo Galland, M.D. Townsend Letter for
Doctors, 1988.

Mayor Wade Kyler Paxton
"Recently, our entire Colony had a large power outage, followed by a strain of sicknesses. Please, to be safe, we must contain everyone in our Sector. We must keep this strain from spreading to other Sectors in our Colony. If you have contracted symptoms such as dry lips, dry skin, chronic coughing, strained breathing, or mild itching of the skin, you are highly encouraged to contact 625-32317. This message has been approved by Wade Paxton."

December 13, 2190.
Hunter Greyson
"Well, something is definitely messed up around here. Mom "contracted the symptoms" a while ago, called the number, and we haven’t seen her or heard from her since. She went to this place that the number told her to go to, she said she wouldn’t be back for a while, and then nothing. No clue what they’re doing over there. I know I don’t like it though."

Greyson laughed at his old entry. That was 13 years ago, when he was 11. But there was no reason to laugh. He was in a dark corridor, cut wires sending sparks everywhere, and there was a blue glow of the stars on the metal. Hunter tapped a button on the archive terminal.
://:_h_search_qa_? ://:
"C-28, S-5 Quarantine subject report." Greyson mumbled. He tried to be quiet. He wasn’t the only thing in this sector.
://:_unrecognized_command ://:
He was being too quiet. Again.
"C-28, S-5 Quarantine subject report."
He heard a rattling down the corridor.
"Shit, my bad. Keep on that terminal, Talon."
Reese Carson was one of the troops on the ship with Hunter. He wasn’t born or raised anywhere in Sector 5, not even Colony 28. C28 is pretty much dead. All 10 Sectors. Turned into these…things. Hunter was born and raised in S5 though. It was a miracle that he was alive. His experience in S5 was exactly why he was picked for the job. "Talon" was Hunter Greyson’s codename. But to him, it seemed like it was his name, period. He hadn’t been around any civilians for a quite a while. Always rebellion troops and USC Marines. They all called him Talon. Anyways, "Talon" continued with the terminal. Apparently the louder request worked. There was a list of quarantine lab reports. Talon looked at the first.

There was a bunch of statistic about the subject. Height, weight, blood type, things like that. He scrolled down a bit. Day 1, Day 2, Day 3…
It went on for a while.

Day 45.

Everything went on normally [not including symptoms] up until that day.
It was listed, in order, the activities of the subject.
The subject seems to be showing some symptoms of insanity, not to mention some other strange symptoms like very irritated, itchy skin, paleness and dilation of the eyes, dry skin, dry lips, coughing, bleeding black liquid from the pores…
The list went on. Talon shivered in his suit from the coldness of space.

Day 46.

The cameras showed the subject having a seizure, it’s eyes rolling back into the head, foaming in the mouth, and falling over. Cold. Dead. The scientists took the body to another room to conduct an anatomy. They knew it was a parasite, they tried to fix it, in all of the subjects, nothing worked. most of the subjects were discarded and incinerated. But a few were kept. X-Rays showed the insides. The parasite had grown from a small worm inside the body to a human-sized puppeteer. It made the human body look like it was just a sick human. But the parasite had sucked out all of the humans nutrients, gave it to itself, grew, and took complete control over all of the human body’s organ system. The human body was now essentially a shell for the parasite. Once the parasite had taken enough nutrients, it shed. This gruesome process was horrible to watch. The parasite had mandibles inside of it’s mouth that pull the human mouth open to force the skin off. The skull was fused into the parasite skull now. However, the whole thing still seemed disturbingly human. The nails, which had grown long and sharp over the time of the quarantine, scratched at the irritated, itchy skin and pulled it completely off. Blood engulfed the whole thing.
This process happened simultaneously in the anatomy rooms. Four out of the five subjects escaped the quarantine, and spread the parasite around Sector 5. Then people with symptoms spread it elsewhere. Soon it was all around Colony 28. These parasites killed people, infected people, and something needed to be done. The USC gathered survivors and put out a draft to fight back. Then Greyson remembered.

The blackout.

Then the parasites.

Something happened in that blackout.
Carson walked down the corridor.
"Ya done yet?"
Greyson replied in a quiet mumble "Sure. Lets take this i

Malaria

Malaria
Humans catch malaria from the bites of mosquitoes which are carrying the parasite that causes the disease. In the human body, the parasites multiply in the liver and then infect red blood cells. Symptoms of malaria include fever, headache and vomiting; they usually appear between 10 to 15 days after the mosquito bite. Children with a fever can be saved if diagnosed quickly and treated with anti-malarial medicines.
